Baffle Their Mind with Bullsh*t wins Best Editing at BAWIFM Shorts Fest!

We have a winner! Thanks to Bay Area Women in Film and Media’s charming short film festival, we were happy to come home with the editing award and even happier to share the screen with some excellent films.

See you at DC Shorts!

See you at DC Shorts!

“Baffle their minds with Bullsh*t, Kerry Leigh” will screen at the DC Shorts Film Festival. It’s the largest audience-driven collection of short films in the country. As this is one of the few festivals with content selected by audience, not committee, we were especially happy to make the cut.

I edited short documentary that is screening at the DC Independent Festival. Exciting!

An American Factory

An American Factory

I edited this event video, shot by Josh Cogan about the opening of a the Chesapeake Bay Candle Factory in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Chesapeake Bay Candle, owned by David and Mei Xu, sells to vendors from Bloomnigdale’s to Target. With a factory already open in China, they made the unique decision to open a factory […]

I edited this video, which is part of Arlington county’s¬†initiative¬†encouraging residents to commute via bicycle.

How to Live in Arlington and Lose your Car

How to Live in Arlington and Lose your Car

As part of the City of Arlington’s initiative to get residents to lose their cars and use public transport, this video-heavy ad campaign uses a competition to educate residents on their transportation options. I edited this piece produced by Goldenbear.

Making Champagne Explode: Actually Quite Difficult

Making Champagne Explode: Actually Quite Difficult

Every month, Affinity Lab puts together a this video “calendar” which serves as a fun reminder to members about what’s going on, and a promo to get non-members involved in events. We went through several bottles of champagne and got a surprising variety of foamy explosions. (Thanks Dad.) Shot on the Canon 7D at 60fps, […]

Dreams For Kids: Holiday For Hope

Dreams For Kids: Holiday For Hope

AD2DC put together a campaign as part of their public service this year for the Dreams For Kids Holiday for Hope event. This is a “thank you sponsors” piece that DFK can use for fund-raising/marketing collateral and for the press kit. I had a little help from “White Christmas,” but a flimmaker could not ask […]

What Cornel West’s Laugh is Like

What Cornel West's Laugh is Like

Sockets Records asked me to cover a showcase at The Black Cat featuring a few bands on the label, including The Cornel West Theory. This was initially just going to be some pick-ups from the show, but as we had some downtime before the show, we snagged some interviews on the fly. Mesmerized by their […]

6-12 Year Olds: Far Cooler than Me

6-12 Year Olds: Far Cooler than Me

These girls, umm, rock? This week-long camp, created by a vast swath of the DC arts community,¬† teaches music, performance, and a litany of life skills to young Washingtonians. This is their final show at The 9:30 Club. It was one of the best rock shows I have ever attended, and the most fun I […]

Pop-Up Video!

Pop-Up Video!

Here’s my best explanation of how this happened. Jackie Cantwell (Curating for a Cause) partnered up with Josh Phelps (Monument Music and Arts Festival) to create a art show/auction hosted by Affinity Lab and sponsored by PBR with all proceeds going to Dreams for Kids. Whew. Well in the end; it happened. And the kids […]

Rendered Fatback: The Remix

Rendered Fatback: The Remix

Here’s the Fatback video recut to an awesome song licensed from PPU Records, a DC- based funk label. It’s got mostly the same footage as the Outstanding version, just slightly tweaked. Although the change in pace with the new song does give the piece a more lively feel. It’s certainly a more obvious dance choice. […]

After Effects DC Web Banner

After Effects DC Web Banner

After Effects DC has arrived! I’m excited about picking the brains of more experienced designers in person. I’m pretty tired of only picking up new tricks from 11-year-olds on youtube. In the spirit of creative competition, members were asked to submit a design for the banner on the Adobe Groups’ website. Here are the constraints: […]
